Dinajpur Correspondent: On the occasion of World Environment Day-2026, a tree plantation program and discussion meeting was organized by Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, Dinajpur District Branch with the theme “Let’s deal with environmental disasters, resolve women’s crises”.
Organized on Monday (June 8) at the premises of the traditional Raisaheb Bari in Dinajpur city, the program emphasized environmental conservation, dealing with the effects of climate change and increasing women’s participation.
Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, Dinajpur District Branch President Dr. Marufa Begum presided over the discussion meeting, which was attended by Kaniz Rahman, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Mahila Parishad and Honorable Member of the District Branch, District Branch Vice Presidents Monowara Sanu, Minti Ghosh, Ratna Mitra, Publicity Secretary Shukla Kundu, Member Shivani Urao and leaders of the district and neighborhood committees.
The speakers at the discussion meeting said that the environmental crisis is gradually becoming severe due to global climate change. Although its negative impact is on people from all walks of life, its impact on the lives and livelihoods of women and children is most visible. Therefore, protecting the environment and ensuring women’s rights and security must be given importance at the same time.
The speakers also said that to ensure sustainable development, there is no alternative to increasing the use of renewable energy, formulating environmentally friendly policies, expanding tree plantation programs and raising public awareness. They called on the state, civil society and various social organizations to work together to build a safe, green and livable world for future generations.
Highlighting the importance of women’s active participation in environmental protection, the speakers at the meeting said that women’s experience, leadership and participation must be properly evaluated in building a climate-tolerant society. The development of women’s leadership is essential to further strengthen the movement to protect the environment at the grassroots level.
At the end of the program, the leaders of the organization planted saplings of various species of fruit, forest and medicinal trees in the premises of Raisaheb Bari. At this time, everyone is urged to come forward to protect the balance of the environment and strengthen greening activities.
