After 5 long years, the court has issued summons against 7 defendants in the case of tying shoe necklaces to a helpless Dimjur in Lalmonirhat. According to the details of the case, Mr. Kamala Kant Roy (58), a daily labourer, of Ward No. 5 North Saptana (Korbantari) of Lalmonirhat Municipality, is a daily labourer. On November 5, 2017, Baniyar called Kamala Kant due to a dispute over a religious ceremony at a place called Dighi and beat him up with a stick and a shoe necklace around his neck.
Kamala Kant’s wife Smt. Madhavi Rani (45) rushed to the spot to save her husband after receiving the news. When Madhavi went to the spot, they tore her clothes and molested her and beat her against 8 people including Manoranjan Roy, Smt. Kanan Bala, Suman Mohant, Suba Rani Roy, Aula Chandra Orupe Jiten Roy, Beauty Rani, Shri Prabhas Chandra and Shri Hemant Kumar Roy of the same area. Madhavi Rani (45) filed a statement at Sadar police station as the plaintiff. After investigating the incident at Lalmonirhat Sadar police station, the police registered the case. Which case no-51, date-18/11/2017. After the filing of the case, the former Mayor of Lalmonirhat Municipality, Lokmarfat called the wife Sri Madhavi and husband Sri Kamalakant Roy to the mattress house in Saptana Bazar. The suit was settled and sent home with the signatures of the wife and husband on a white paper without discussing the settlement. On 31/12/17 the then SI of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station Nihar Ranjan Roy sent the final report to the court under condition no. Subsequently, the learned court ordered the disposal of the case on the final report dated 12/02/2018.
Later the plaintiff Madhavi Rani Wise Sr. Jud.: Maj.: Amli 1st Court, Lalmonirhat filed a complaint. Learned Senior Judiciary: Magistrate: Amli 1st Court, Naraji took cognizance of the application and directed (OC, DB, Lalmonirhat) to investigate the case. Lalmonirhat, DB, Police SI Ferdous Sarkar was given the responsibility to investigate the said case. He investigated the case secretly and publicly and impartially for a long time and on 18/01/23 filed the final charge sheet against 7 persons except the 8th accused Mr. Hemant Kumar Roy in the learned Super Senior Jud: Magi: Amli 1st Court of Lalmonirhat. Also Sri Kamala Kant Roy was isolated by the influential defendants from the society of the said temple. As a result, Kamala Kant Roy is living a very difficult life in the hope of justice. The accused are, Manoranjan Roy, Smt. Kanan Bala, Suman Mohant, Suba Rani Roy, Aula Chandra as Jiten Roy, Beauty Rani, Shri Prabhas Chandra. On February 12, the learned senior judge of Lalmonirhat: Maji: Amli 1st Court took cognizance of the case and issued summons against 7 defendants. Earlier, Kamala Kant Roy held a press conference at Lalmonirhat demanding proper investigation into the case.
In this regard, Kamala Kant Roy said, there have been various discussions and criticisms about me among the Hindu community in the area. My son is in trouble. Without guilt, the influential people put a necklace around my neck. I was separated from the society and kept in a single room because of the trial of that case. I am an orthodox religious minority, my family and I are worried about this issue.
