On Wednesday, April 30, at 5 pm, the second phase of the “Baishakh Abgahan-1432” organization of the Comilla Cultural Alliance and the continuous leadership changeover were held at the District Shilpakala Academy Comilla auditorium.
The event was chaired by Abul Hasanat Babul, convener of the changeover board 1432, and moderated by Md. Ashiqur Rahman Shishir, member secretary of the celebration board, and Ed. Shahidul Haque Swapan, overall coordinator. Dr. Neyamat Ulya Bhuiyan, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, was the chief guest. The special guests present were the Honorable Deputy Commissioner of Comilla District Md. Amirul Kaiser, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Mustafa Fahmida, politician and cultural activist Udbatul Bari Abu, Principal of Comilla Victoria Government College Professor Abul Bashar Bhuiyan, and 24th Battalion fighter Abu Baihan.
The program began with the performance of the national anthem. The welcome speeches were delivered by former president of the Comilla Cultural Alliance, freedom fighter Zahirul Haque Dulal, Abul Hasanat Babul, principal Shafiqur Rahman, Md. Anisur Rahman, Ed. Shahidul Haque Swapan, general secretary of the Comilla Club Ahmed Shoaib Sohel, honored convener of the Boishakh Abgahan 1432 Celebration Board Belayet Hossain Kanak, Dean of the Royal University Md. Anisur Rahman, outgoing president Abul Hasanat Azad, general secretary Kamal Chanda Khokon, Dr. Ataur Rahman Jasim, president of the Comilla College Theater Professor Md. Anwarul Haque, editor of the daily Comilla newspaper Abul Kashem Hridoy, and principal of the Comilla Private Polytechnic Institute Zaker Hossain. Also present at the time were former president of the alliance Abhijit Sinha Mithu, Rasheda Akhtar, chairman Shamim, general secretary Tapan Sen Gupta, Uttam Bohni Sen Khairul Azim Shimul, Zahidur Rahman Mamun, Billal Hossain, Shahadat Hossain, Masud Majumder, Rezbaul Haque Rana, Ed. Nazneen Akhter Kajal, Afroza Sultana Mili, Ayesha Siddika Soma, Ed. Dilip Kumar Chanda, Ratan Acharya, Tuhin Ahmed Prajonmo and others.
As part of the continuous activities of the alliance, the Apanjon Award was presented. The Apanjon Award of the Baishakh Abgahan-1432 was given to Bijoypur Pottery (ancient heritage), Dainik Comillar Kagoj (a newspaper active in humanitarian initiatives), Udbatul Bari Abu (politician and cultural worker), Afroza Sultana Mili (musician), Md. Ashiqur Rahman Shishir (Best Cultural Worker of the Year), Abul Hasanat Azad (Farewell President), Kamal Chanda Khokon (Farewell General Secretary), Belayet Hossain Kanak (Convenor, Celebration Board-1432). In addition, special mementos were presented to Quantum Foundation, Comilla and Shaheed Mughdah Karna, Comilla and the youngest child artist Aynun Hasan.
Then the cultural performance began. One of the highlights of the cultural performance was Ali Akabbar Chachar Banshi, the unveiling of the serial publication Nabaloke Praner Sara, a lyrical program with the participation of the affiliated organizations, and the last event was the Palanatya “Joytun Bibi Pala” performed by Adhuna Theater. The cultural performance was conducted by Sultana Parveen Dwipali and Nusrat Jahan Chowdhury.
In light of the decision of the Palabadal-1432 Board, a 36-member executive committee was formed for 1432 Bangabd with cultural personality Principal Shamim Haider as the president, Khelaghar organizer Kamal Chanda Khokon as the general secretary, and theater activist Md. Ashikur Rahman Shishir as the organizing secretary. Other members of the committee are Executive President Belayet Hossain Kanak, Presidium Member Yunus Ullah, Ed. Nazneen Akhter Kajal, Principal Zaker Hossain, Masud Majumder, Humorist Poet Abdul Qayyum, Joint General Secretary Ishtiaq Ahmed Pallab, Poppy Sutradhar, Abdullah Al Mamun, Co-Organizing Secretary Tanim Ahmed, Finance Secretary Moinuddin Khan Mahadi, Publication Secretary Ed. Dilip Kumar Chanda, Office Secretary Nafizul Alam, Publicity Secretary Sabbir Ahmed, Co-Publicity Secretary Kibria Hasib, Hospitality Secretary Ayesha Siddika Soma, Welfare Secretary Shipon Hossain Manab, Executive Members Bashir Ahmed, Khairul Azim Shimul, Zahidur Rahman Mamun, Md. Finally, the convener of the celebration board, Belayet Hossain Kanak, thanked everyone present and wished the alliance further prosperity. The program ended with the presentation of mementos to the 35 organizations participating in the first phase of the first Baishakh and the 1st place winner, Comilla College Theater, the 2nd place winner, Victoria College Theater, and the 3rd place winner, Khelaghar Comilla District Committee.
