The closure of Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station OC Matiur Rahman to the Rangpur Range DIG office has shocked locals. He received the best OC award in the district on Monday, May 26, 2025. There has been confusion over the allegations against him and this sudden move.
According to local sources, OC Matiur Rahman recently married a July fighter. The allegations state that the woman was previously associated with the Chhatra League, which is being shown as the reason behind his closure.
However, those concerned believe that the matter needs to be confirmed through an impartial investigation. OC Matiur Rahman joined Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station on October 23, 2024. After he assumed charge, significant changes took place in the local police administration. He reorganized the once disorganized police force and restored the trust of the people. His role in arresting the devils identified during the previous fascist government was praised. So far, about 450 people have been arrested under Operation Devil Hunt. In addition, he was successful in the anti-drug campaign. During his tenure, more than a thousand people associated with drugs were arrested.
OC Matiur Rahman married fighter Humaira Binte Kabir Survi on 15 February 2025. It is known that the woman was being blackmailed by some members of the Chhatra League. OC Matiur took this decision to protect her. This marriage was completed legally and neither party made any complaint.
However, it is known that some quarters have filed complaints about this marriage. Based on that complaint, a secret investigation was started in the DIG office of Rangpur Range. After the investigation, an order has been issued to submit a report.
OC Matiur’s public welfare work during his tenure made him popular with the locals. The general public is raising questions about the sudden action against him. Locals are demanding a fair investigation to determine the truth of the allegations.
