No decision has yet been taken by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare regarding doctors seeing patients in separate chambers in their own hospitals after completing their duties in government hospitals and determining the fees of doctors. Various headlines such as “Chamber from March, maximum fee 300 taka”, “Expert doctor will give advice for 300 taka” are causing confusion in the public mind. In fact, a committee under the chairmanship of Md. Saidur Rahman, Additional Secretary (Administration) of the Ministry is working on the issue of separate chambers for the government doctors in their respective hospitals outside the office hours and the work of the committee is going on now. So far it has not been decided whether a doctor’s fee will be Tk 300 or Tk 150 or not. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has not taken any decision on how many hospitals or government health centers will be opened. In this regard, the committee will discuss at various levels and take a decision and it will be informed to the countrymen through a press conference. It was specifically requested not to publicize the information about setting up separate chambers or fees in government hospitals or in which hospitals this system will be introduced until further announcement by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
