Al Amin’s mother Monowara Begum said, Our house is in Savar’s Radio Colony area. The mosque is a little far from our house. You have to cross the road. The boy crossed the road to pray Jumma. He was returning home after praying. After praying, I came out of the house hearing the sound of gunshots. People are gathered in front of the pump at the junction of the road ahead. I came to see. I heard that Al Amin was shot. How did my mind know? Still back home. After a while, one of his friends called and said that Al Amin had been shot. At that time it seemed that people had gone away and gathered after seeing my son fall. Before I left the house, another call came, an unknown number from the hospital saying, ‘Aunt Al Amin has passed away’. At that time, the sound of cries was heard all around. I ran to the hospital and saw the bird’s bloody body lying there. As if laughing at me.
Al Amin’s father. Babul said, after the incident, someone called me and said that your son was shot and admitted to the hospital. Another person on this number said he died. I was at my workplace in Gazipur. I didn’t believe it. Because I talked to Al Amin in the morning. My son begged me not to go out. I promise not to go out either. But even if I didn’t go out, my son was never seen again. I came home with his body.
He burst into tears. He kept saying, my son does not do politics. Did not study after HSC exam. Again planning to enroll in open university. The boy went to pray. What was wrong with him? What fault was he shot?
Al Amin’s mother Manowara Begum said, “I have kept the house bird alive for 23 years without eating.” I could not make my child study for money. Go to work later. Died before getting to work on July 2nd. I wanted to finish the loan of my elder brother to go abroad and study again. Get a good job and take care of the family. Married 5 months ago. Can’t bring up the wife anymore. They killed my son before that.
He said that Al Amin was with the agitators. I heard from local sources that his son died in BGB firing. He was shot in the back and exited above the navel. No ambulance was found throughout the night. Later, an ambulance from Laksam in Comilla brought his body early on Saturday morning. His body was buried at 10am the next day without an autopsy or police report.
Manwara Begum said that there was no trouble that day. Why did they kill my son? My son neither agitated nor struggled. Went to pray. And returned as a corpse. The police come and say they will compensate me. But my son will come back?
