BNP leaders and activists are gathering in Nayapaltan after a month and a half

The activists of BNP who are in the movement to prevent the 12th national election are gathering in Nayapaltan of the capital. After 1 month and 20 days, BNP is holding a program in front of the central office of the party.

It has been informed by the party that the victory rally organized by Dhaka Metropolitan North-South BNP will start from the front of the party’s central office in Nayapaltan at 1 pm on Saturday (December 16), which will end at Moghbazar.

It has been seen on the ground that the leaders and activists started gathering in the morning to prepare for the Victory Day rally; A temporary stage is being built. The leaders and activists are excited to hold a program in front of the office after October 28, although the office is locked till 11:30 pm.

Earlier in the morning, BNP Standing Committee member Selima Rahman, Dr. Senior leaders including Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan. At this time, the activists gave a showdown with ‘direct action slogan’.

Massive violence erupted around the October 28 mass rally demanding elections under a non-partisan government. Top 22 leaders including party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir were arrested. After that, the BNP and like-minded parties observed 22 days of blockade and 4 days of hartal in 11 phases. At this time, no party leader was seen coming in front of the office.

Amidst the agitation, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal announced the election schedule in his address to the nation on November 15. According to the schedule, the last day for submission of nomination forms by candidates for the election was 30 November, scrutiny of nomination papers from 1 to 4 December, appeals and disposal of nominations from 6 to 15 December.
