President Abdul Hamid said to increase the flow of foreign currency to save Bangladesh from the global recession. He said, in the context of the outbreak of the global pandemic Covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war, we need to increase the flow of foreign exchange to save the country from global recession. For this, export and foreign employment should be increased. The President said these words at the ‘Sixth Convocation-2023’ of the University of Professionals (BUP) in Mirpur cantonment of the capital on Wednesday (February 22) afternoon. Referring to the current world situation, he said that the country’s economy is moving in the right direction under the efficient leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. During this, the President called upon the young generation to become skilled manpower in science and information technology. He said, to survive in this competitive world, there is no alternative to skill acquisition. From primary to higher, science and practical education should be promoted everywhere. The President also said that efficient human resources should be developed through analytical and practical education rather than certificate-all and memorization of notes. Bangladesh Army Chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed spoke as the convocation speaker. 36 graduate degree holders were awarded ‘Chancellor’s Gold Medal’ and another 29 were awarded ‘Vice Chancellor’s Gold Medal’. He said, it (quality education) is the main means of not only economic development, but also intellectual growth, non-communal sense of life and above all awakening deep patriotism. Meanwhile, he urged the relevant authorities to prepare the education curriculum in accordance with the existing labor market. The Acharya of the university advised the teachers to devote themselves sincerely to teaching and said that everyone should remember that education without joy cannot bring any benefit. He also said that we have to keep up-to-date by mastering the new ideas and techniques developed in various fields in keeping with the times. Appreciating the efforts of the BUP authorities, the Chancellor said, BUP’s admission test, other tests and their results are being conducted through the ‘University Comprehensive Management Software System’.
