Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhia Balukhali Rohingya camp, Noor Habi aka Doctor Wakkas Prakash Noor Kalim (39), a Rohingya leader (former) was shot dead by miscreants. The killing happened on Monday (March 6) around 1 o’clock in the morning in the C block of Palongkhali 9 camp. The deceased youth was the leader (Majhi) of Camp No. 9. The matter was confirmed by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ukhia Thana Police Sheikh Mohammad Ali. He said, a group of 25 to 30 masked miscreants suddenly shot the Rohingya leader and ran away. He was rescued and taken to a hospital run by the NGO MSF, where the doctor on duty declared him brought dead. The reason why this young man was killed could not be ascertained. The body has been recovered and sent to Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem. A special police operation is underway to arrest those involved in the incident. The victim’s family claimed that he was killed because of protesting the incident of fire at Camp No. 9 on Sunday. A Rohingya, who did not wish to be named, said that he was killed by Arsa members for protesting against the Arsa members over the fire incident in the camp. They also targeted those who protested. Now the Rohingyas are in fear.
