Red Crescent and Zilla Parishad to jointly advance human welfare – LGRD Minister

On 5 March 2023 Sunday Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md. Tajul Islam said that Bangladesh Red Crescent Society has been working for people’s suffering since birth. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman also dedicated his life and politics to the service of humanity.

He said this today in Dhaka while addressing the chief guest at an exchange meeting with unit chairman and secretaries of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.

He expressed hope that Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and Zilla Parishad chairmen will work together to reduce the suffering of people through this exchange meeting.

The minister said that the current government has taken various development steps for the welfare of the people. He said that Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has determined the country’s development roadmap to fulfill the dreams of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu.

At this time, he said, the current government has set up schools, roads, businesses and health services to improve the quality of life of the common people in the village, starting from the development of electricity generation, improvement of communication system, development of information technology sector. All this has been done so that people can enjoy a better life.

Bangladesh was once called a bottomless basket, but now it is described as a role model for development, said the local government minister.

Referring to the loss of lives of many people due to natural disasters in Bangladesh in the past, he said that the current Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is known as a natural disaster tolerant nation all over the world.

The Minister of Local Government said that the involvement of Zilla Parishad chairmen in the work of Red Crescent will increase the activity in solving local problems.

At this time, he called upon the Zila Parishad Chairman to effectively involve the nationwide wide volunteer network of the Red Crescent Society in the proper implementation of various humanitarian aid projects of the government. The Minister urged the Zilla Parishad chairmen to cooperate with organizations like Red Crescent to solve the problems of their respective districts.
