Bank customers and businessmen staged a human chain and protest rally demanding that Bangladesh Krishi Bank Badurtala Bazar branch building not be shifted in Mathbari Union of Rajapur Upazila of Jhalkathi. On Wednesday morning, local ward Awami League president and customer Omar Ali Mallik, former UP member and market trader Mujibar Molla, Nasreen Sultana, Bulbul Ahmed, Mostafa Hawladar, Golam Kabir and Bellal Khan and others. The speakers in the manavbandhan said that the bank manager, with the connivance of some local dishonest gangs, is planning to move the building, which has been running for almost three centuries and is well-known to the common customers of the village, about one and a half kilometers away from the current location. If the bank is shifted from here, ordinary customers like us will have to face constant hardships and harassment and even risk doing financial transactions. About 400 men and women from various professions participated in the human chain and protest rally. At the end of the peaceful human chain, the customers of the bank staged a protest march. In this regard, Krishi Bank Badurtala Bazar branch manager Mehdi Hasan said that there are two reasons behind the decision to shift the building, namely, we need a two-storied building and we need better communication system (access roads). Monir Mallik, the building owner of the current bank branch, said, “They did not tell me anything about the two-storied building. If the bank needs it, I will make it a two-storied building.” And they didn’t tell me anything about bank transfer.
