Public hearing in Brahmanbaria Citizens raised hundreds of problems

District Policy Forum (DPF) in Brahmanbaria organized a public hearing on Wednesday in the district commissioner’s conference room. Citizens present in the public hearing held under the initiative of District Policy Forum highlighted various problems of the district. People from various professions including teachers, lawyers, cultural workers, NGO workers, job candidates, students, media workers participated in the public hearing. The concerned expressed their respective views on the complaint and assured to solve the problem. At that time, it was alleged that the people who came to Sadar Hospital for treatment are being denied services in various ways. Citizen chart does not write what food patients are allowed to eat. One alleged that after taking a baby to the hospital’s emergency department for treatment, the doctor on duty advised the relatives to go to a nearby private neonatal hospital. Complaints were also raised that cotton and bandages were not available in the hospital. Deputy Commissioner Md. was the chief guest at the public hearing. Shahgir Alam. Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shakhawat Hossain was the special guest. District Policy Forum president Mohammad Arju Mia chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Saiful Islam, Divisional Representative of DPF Alamgir Mia, District Registrar Sarkar Lutful Kabir, Deputy Director of District Social Services Office Abu Abdullah Md. Wali Ullah, Civil Surgeon Representative Medical Officer Mahmudul Hasan, Regional Passport Office Deputy Director Shamim Ahmed, District Consumer Rights Protection Directorate Assistant Director Mehdi Hasan, District Secondary Education Officer Zulfikar Hossain, District Primary Education Officer Khorshed Alam, Women Affairs Deputy Director Vikarun Necha, Acting Master of Brahmanbaria Railway Station Rafiqul Islam, Acting President of Brahmanbaria Press Club. Jasim Uddin and General Secretary Baharul Islam Molla and others. District Policy Forum general secretary Sharif Uddin gave the welcome address. In the public hearing, it was complained that ponds are being filled in the entire upazila, including the district headquarters. The District Commissioner himself gave the information that the hills are being cut in Kasba. Additional money is required for land deeds and address verification for passports. It was alleged in the public hearing that the paper quality of secondary level textbooks is bad and now the books have not arrived. Various discussions were also held on the traffic congestion in the municipal area. Many complain that the black market of tickets has not reduced despite the new system. District Commissioner Md. Shahgir Alam said, ‘I did not allow any pond to be filled after joining. No filling of ponds shall be permitted. The publication of the book has been delayed due to the global situation. The police will be worked with regarding the entry of hawkers, traffic jams and trucks in the municipal area.
