Rajapur of Jhalkathi, the police have arrested wife Sapia Begum on the charge of killing auto driver husband Awal Talukdar by tying his hands and legs and cutting his throat with a knife due to a family dispute. The incident took place in Rajapur Upazila of the district on Sunday (March 12) around 2 o’clock in the morning. According to police and local sources, resident of Putiyakhali area of Rajapur Upazila, Abdur Rahman Talukdar’s son, auto driver Md. Rabiul Awal Talukder and his wife Safia Talukder often had quarrels. As a result, Rabiul was killed by his wife with a knife on his throat while he was sleeping on Sunday night. The deceased’s 9th grade son Rafin said that his father married a woman of Angaria village 3 months ago. Later, he wrote down 4 percent of the land with his mother’s signature, saying that the installments would be raised. After knowing about the matter last week, there was often a fight between the husband and wife. Rajapur police station officer-in-charge Pulak Chandra Roy said that Safia was arrested at night. The body was recovered at night and sent to Jhalkathi morgue for post-mortem on Monday morning. In this incident, a case of murder has been registered in Rajapur police station. Case No. 4 dated 13/3/23. IO SI Mamun of the case said that the killer Safia has given a confessional statement.
