National Statistics Day was celebrated in Joypurhat like the rest of the country with the theme of ‘Development of statistical system, formation of smart Bangladesh’.
On Monday (February 27) around 11:30 a.m., a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the District Commissioner organized by the District Administration and District Statistics Office.
Additional District Magistrate Abul Kalam Azad, Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman SM Solaiman Ali, District Freedom Fighter Commander Amjad Hossain, District Statistics Office Deputy Director (Acting) Nurul Islam and others were present in the discussion meeting under the chairmanship of Additional District Commissioner (Revenue) Mohiuddin Jahangir.
Speakers in the discussion meeting said that proper planning is necessary for development. There is no substitute for quality statistical data in proper planning. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics to prepare accurate, timely and quality statistics to monitor the development and progress of the country based on the theme of “developing the statistical system, building a smart Bangladesh”. He said that Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics is working under the leadership of Statistics and Information Management Department.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of this day, the National Statistics Day was celebrated with a discussion at Kalai Upazila Parishad auditorium at 11 am. Upazila Secondary Officer Kazi Manowarul Haque, heroic freedom fighter Manish Chandra Chowdhury, Upazila Statistics Investigator Habibur Rahman and others spoke under the chairmanship of Upazila Executive Officer Jannat Ara Tithi.
