Today on the occasion of the 77th birthday of Shaheed Arju Mani Serniabat, the founder chairman of Bangladesh Awami Jubo League, the creator of Mujib Bahini, the wife of eminent journalist-columnist Shaheed Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani, at Banani Cemetery at 9 am at the grave of all the martyrs who died on August 15, including Shaheed Arju Mani. Tributes, prayers and Milad Mahfil are held. Jubo League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash said, “My mother knew that my father could be hurt and there were several attempts to kill my father.” My mother understood that. In my father’s life he always tried to be careful that that nightmare did not become a reality; He walked in fear. That is why he tried to be self-reliant. She passed the MA exam while pregnant. My mother was born in a noble Muslim family in Barisal. Abdur Rab Serniabat was not mine. People all over the country including Barisal division knew him as a very honest politician. Those who survived being shot on August 15, 1975, spent the rest of their lives suffering greatly. Did politics as a student, was GS of Barisal Women’s College. My Shanu Mami was a VP. But my mother had no greed. After marriage, he focused on family. He taught us to love and value people. The song he used to make us sleep at night was also the song of humanity. One day when you grow up, you will be a human being, you will stand beside the sad people, our memories with mother are so much. We are trying to be human like people, to be with the suffering people. He also said, “Many people of my age have mothers, they call them mothers, they get the opportunity to serve the mother, but we do not get the opportunity to serve the mother.” I want to serve my mother, to love my mother, to go to my mother. We didn’t get that chance. Many people talk about human rights today. In fact, it seems absurd and ridiculous. To those who speak of human rights today, we had no rights in the 1970s. What was the fault of Baby aunt, what was the fault of Arif uncle, what was the fault of Sheikh Russell, what was the fault of my mother. We never got that right. People’s leader Sheikh Hasina was saved by Allah, after 21 years of shootings, gunpowder, bomb assassination attempts, killing of our leaders and workers, torture and oppression on them, he came to power and paved the way for justice. Under his brave and strong leadership we got the judgment of August 15. This was possible only because of the courageous leadership of Sheikh Hasina, the symbol of justice. Our family has fought for democracy all our lives. My question to those who talk about human rights and humanity today, what was their role from 1975 to 1996? What have we done to realize our rights? These fall within the basic human rights. We were deprived of that right. Jubo League General Secretary Alhaj Md Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil said, I want prayers for martyr Arju Mani Serniabat on August 15, 1975, I want prayers for Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other martyrs of that day. At the same time, I strongly hate the murderers of the seventy-five. He also said, let us be aware, let us unite. Those seventy-five-year-old killers are trying to rise again.
