Faruk Khandkar, Md. Liton Fakir and A. Razzak Howladar.
In the written statement, the candidates complained that they were forced to withdraw from the polls today due to various irregularities including one-sided, biased behavior of the officials in charge of the election process, participation in the election campaign, defective voter list, voting for multiple dead persons, multiple voting of the same person. In response to the questions of the journalists, the guardian member candidate Md Faruk Khandaker said that he has been obstructed in the election campaign and vandalized the election camp. Although these complaints were given, the responsible officer (college principal) did not take any action. Moreover, three candidates who are identified as loyal to the college authorities are repeatedly violating the code of conduct but are pretending not to see it and are acting in a biased manner. Serial No. 18, 127, 443, 412, 413, 07 and 340 in the final voter list (same person is multiple voter, two deceased persons have been voted. Some of the teachers of the college and some of the officers in charge of the election are openly campaigning for some candidate- Even going door to door of the voter asking for votes for one candidate made the election controversial. So they were forced to boycott such rigged and flawed election by the college authorities.
In this regard, Election Returning Officer and College Principal Ahsanul Haque claimed that the complaint was not correct and said, “No one has ever complained to me.” On the day of polling, he came at 9 in the morning and boycotted voting with a verbal complaint. On the question of errors in the election schedule and voter list, he said that the students have been voted according to the information of the admission registrar. There may be errors as the documents do not mention the deceased. The disenfranchisement of such aggrieved voters is suspended and peaceful polls are held.
It should be noted that today Sunday (February 12) from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm voting for the election of parent members of Muradia Aziz Ahmed Degree College Governing Body of Dumki Upazila is going on.
