Two people, including an autorickshaw driver, were killed in a truck collision in Lalmonirhat. Three more passengers of the autorickshaw were seriously injured in the accident. The accident took place on Lalmonirhat-Barbari-Rangpur highway in Mahendranagar area of Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila around 4:30 pm on Wednesday. The deceased autorickshaw driver Rezaul Islam is the son of Mujibur Rahman of Selimnagar Khedabagh village of Barabari union of Sadar upazila. The other deceased is said to be a representative of a pharmaceutical company. His name is not known. Locals said that some passengers were going to Barabari market by autorickshaw from Lalmonirhat district town. A truck coming from the opposite direction hit the autorickshaw in Mahendranagar area. The autorickshaw driver was killed on the spot. At this time, four people were injured. One died on the way to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital. Besides, the rest of the injured have been admitted to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital. The condition of one of them is said to be critical. Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station OC Ershadul Alam said that two people were killed in an autorickshaw hit by a truck. The injured have been rescued and are being treated at Sadar Hospital. Accidental autorickshaw and truck have been recovered.
