Muslims have certain rules for slaughtering animals. At the time of slaughtering, the animal is slaughtered by saying ‘Bismillah’ and the head of the animal is thrown towards the Kaaba during slaughtering. But Hindu communities do not follow those rules of Muslims. The meat of the animal sacrificed to God before the Hindus slaughter the animal is haram and prohibited for the Muslims. In violation of that rule, it has been alleged that the meat of sick goats slaughtered by the Hindu community was sold to the Muslims in Lalmonirhat. Some say the goat was not sick but dead. And this incident has created a commotion in the market area. The incident took place at Shaheen’s shop in Kurshamari Bazaar of Gokunda Union of Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila on Wednesday (February 15) afternoon. It is known that Shaheen is the son of deceased Khalilur Rahman of the village adjacent to Kurshamari Bazar. He sells poultry meat as well as a butchery shop called Shaheen Store next to Government Primary School in Kurshamari Bazar. But (15th February) one of the goats of Pavitra Chandra, son of the dead Putul Chandra, of the Hindu community of the same village fell ill. That goat was slaughtered by the Holy Moon in a family manner. Shahin bought the slaughtered goat on that day and sold the meat in the market. That meat was bought by many Muslims including Abul Hossain of the Muslim community of the same area. Many Muslims unknowingly cook and eat with their families. When the incident was leaked the next day, Kurshamari market was criticized.
When the reporters went to the spot after getting the news, the market residents said that the goat had died. Shaheen slaughtered that dead goat secretly by a Hindu and sold the meat for money. Even though he was a Muslim, why did Shaheen knowingly sell goat meat slaughtered by Hindus? There was also a discussion about this in Kurshamari Bazar Jame Masjid last Friday. We local people want Shaheen and Pavitra Kumar to be punished by law. Locals also say that dead or sick goats are slaughtered according to the rules of holy moon Hindus. And Shahin knowingly sold the meat of the goat to the Muslims. Why did Shaheen knowingly sell goat meat slaughtered by Hindus has created a commotion among Muslims. In this regard, the senatorial inspector in charge of Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila said that insulting religion and selling the meat of sick goats is a crime. There is a provision of imprisonment and fine if found in the investigation.
