IDEB’s protest rally to implement four-point demand in city

A rally was held in Rajshahi to protest the delay in solving professional problems in the light of the Prime Minister’s promise and inter-ministerial committee’s recommendations to implement the four-point demand. On Monday morning, after the protest rally organized by the Rajshahi district branch of the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) in the Shaheed Kamaruzzaman square of the city, a memorandum was given to the Rajshahi District Commissioner by the Prime Minister. The four-point demand includes- 1- According to the instructions of the Prime Minister, the conversion of the four-year diploma engineering education course to 3 years from 2000 should be stopped as an unreasonable and suicidal initiative. 2- Ignoring the directives of the Prime Minister and the recommendations of the inter-ministerial committee, the sections and sub-sections added in BNBC 2000 should be amended. 3-Promised and directed by the Prime Minister to provide special increment to diploma engineers, increasing the promotion quota to 50 percent, including professional problems and employment of the unemployed and to solve the problems of diploma engineers working in the private sector. 4- Solving the problems of Polytechnic, TSC, SSC (Voc) and TTC, promotion of teachers, regularization of step teachers and scholarship and industrial training allowance for students should be increased. Rajshahi Region Central Executive Committee Vice President Engineer Md. spoke at the rally. Kabir Uddin, Genic President Engineer Aminul Haque, Vice President Engineer Merajul Alam and Engineer Jahangir Alam. General Secretary Engineer Syed Saeed Ahmed Sani, brave freedom fighter Abul Kalam Azad, Engineer Zia Uddin Ahmed, Engineer Md. Ayatollah, co-organizing secretary engineer. Moshiur Rahman, Publicity Secretary Engineer Ahsan Habib, Engineer Parshuram Tarafder, Library and Office Secretary Md. Moinul Haque, social welfare secretary engineer. Rahat Parvez, Women Affairs Secretary Engineer Anwara Khatun, Education and Training Affairs Secretary Engineer Shahinul Haque, Engineer Md. Suman Haider and others. Leaders of various service associations of Rajshahi district, leaders of Sangram Parishad, member engineers of public and private polytechnic institutes, members of various professional diploma engineers associations, senior and business members, leaders and member engineers were present in the event.
