More than 80 female taxi drivers will soon be employed at four major airports in Saudi Arabia. It is known that these Saudi women will drive as taxi cab drivers at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and Prince Muhammad International Airport in Madinah.
As part of the first phase of the initiative, Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority, in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, will be represented on Sunday by the Tawtin Program-II, which is being launched to empower women.
Under this phase titled ‘Women’s Track’, three contracts will be signed with major companies licensed to operate airport taxis to hire more than 80 women drivers, starting from four airports. As part of the second phase of the initiative, women taxi drivers will be hired at all other Saudi airports.
The initiative includes collaboration with a specialized driving center to develop and develop comprehensive training programs to acquire basic skills of cab driving apart from soft skills like grooming, customer service, first aid and English language.
