There is no chance of any kind of mechanism or engineering in the upcoming Cox’s Bazar Municipal Elections to be held on June 12. There is no lack of goodwill of the commission to make the election fair and beautiful, the commission will not be biased in the election. What is the election, how many types and what is it, will be shown in Cox’s Bazar Municipal Election. An exemplary and beautiful election will be presented in Cox’s Bazar Municipality for the next generation. Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd) Md. Ahsan Habib Khan was the chief guest at the exchange meeting held with the competing candidates in the Cox’s Bazar Municipal Election on Saturday (June 3) at Shaheed Subhash Hall of Cox’s Bazar Public Library and Institute. He gave this assurance in his speech. He said that the election will be impartial, free, peaceful, impartial, transparent, fair, free from black money and muscle power in Cox’s Bazar Municipality. He also said that it is not the sole responsibility of the Election Commission and the administration to make the election beautiful and fair. Rival candidates should also cooperate in this regard. If there is any complaint, it should be brought directly to the attention of the returning officer. Commissioner Brigadier General Md. Ahsan Habib Khan (retd) said to the candidates that everyone should follow the code of conduct with utmost caution and awareness. White-clothed detectives on the ground, and even foreigners with private detectives, are monitoring the election. The candidature of an influential councilor candidate was canceled on the eve of polling in the Gazipur City Corporation elections for violating the code of conduct. There will be no hesitation in canceling the candidature even in Cox’s Bazar if the code of conduct is violated. In this regard, the commission will adopt strict action and “zero tolerance” policy. For this reason, he instructed the concerned to send all updated reports of the Cox’s Bazar Municipal Election to the Election Commission headquarters.

Commissioner Md. Ahsan Habib Khan said, during the past 35/40 years of public duty, I have performed my duties professionally, being accountable to God above and to my conscience below. There will be no interference in Cox’s Bazar municipal election. He said that fair election means the success of everyone including the commission and administration. Since there will be CC cameras in every polling booth in the Cox’s Bazar Municipal Elections, immediate necessary and strict measures will be taken by reviewing the CC camera footage, media and social media reports. The exchange of views was held under the chairmanship of Cox’s Bazar District Administration and District Election Office Muhammad Shaheen Imran. Superintendent of Police Md Mahfuzul Islam PPM (Bar), District Election Officer and Returning Officer SM Shahadat Hossain spoke at the meeting. Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila Election Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Shimul Sharma moderated the exchange meeting, the mayoral candidate Mahbubur Rahman Chowdhury, coconut tree. Independent mayoral candidate Masedul Haque Rashed nominated by Prateek Citizen Committee, Jagdish Barua Partha of Helamet Prateek, Zahedur Rahman of Hatpakha Prateek, councilor and female councilor candidates raised various complaints and questions. Commissioner Md Ahsan Habib Khan, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shaheen Imran, Superintendent of Police Md Mahfuzul Islam answered the complaints and queries of the PPM (Bar) candidates. Later, Commissioner Md. Ahsan Habib Khan went to the audience gallery and placed his hands on the hands of all the 5 mayoral candidates and promised to abide by the rules of conduct in the election and keep the environment clean. Cox’s Bazar Municipal Election Officers, Executive Magistrates, Law Enforcement Officers participated as chief guests in another exchange meeting. Commissioner Brigadier General Md. Ahsan Habib Khan (Retd.) left Cox’s Bazar by air at 6:25 PM on Saturday after his 2-day visit to Cox’s Bazar. According to a tour schedule sent by the private secretary of the commissioner Asma Dilara Jannat. Incidentally, on Monday, June 12, the vote will be taken by EVM system from 8 am to 4 pm. Cox’s Bazar Municipality has a total of 244 booths in 43 polling stations. Besides, there are 14 more temporary booths. There are a total of 95 thousand 386 voters in Cox’s Bazar municipality in the updated voter list till April 17, 2023. Among them, 50 thousand 184 male voters and 45 thousand 202 female voters. CC cameras will be installed in 244 booths of 43 polling stations in Cox’s Bazar municipal election. The Election Commission has already taken that initiative. Returning Officer SM Shahadat Hossain said that the overall situation of the election will be monitored and necessary instructions will be given from the headquarters of the Election Commission through CC cameras.
