Cattle thief syndicate is becoming active in Patuakhali. In the last two months, there have been almost two incidents of cow theft in different areas. After grazing the cows in the fields all day, after keeping them in the hay in the evening, the cows are no longer found in the middle of the night or at the end of the night. The cattle rearers of Galachipa Golkhali Union are in fear due to the sudden increase in theft. It is known that on 18/1/2023, three cows belonging to Md. Zahidul Islam of Naluabagi village of Golkhali Union of Upazila, 1 brown colored cow, 2nd black colored cow, and the third brown colored bull calf were stolen from their cowherd in the dark of night by the consumers. GD No. 914. On the other hand, about twenty local residents including Md. Fazlul Haque Khalifa, Khokon Saha, Mostafa Howlader, Jalil Howlader of Ward No. 8 of Golkhali Union have been reported to have stolen cows. Cow farmers in the area are afraid of cow theft. Golkhali has become an easy and safe route for cow thieves due to its proximity to rivers and grazing areas. On the other hand, the common people are always running to get back the lost cows. The cow keepers are calming their minds by using oja or fever from here to there. Even after months of complaints in the police station, there is no trace of the lost cows. Local common people and cow breeders think that if the police administration and government officials pay attention, then the rate of cow theft can be reduced. In this regard, the officer in charge of Galachipa police station MR Shawkat Anwar Islam said, I have received a complaint of cow theft. Attempts are being made to rescue the cow after investigation.
