Councilor Abul Kalam prison in Feni cattle trader murder case

The court has sent Abul Kalam, Ward Councilor No. 6 of Municipal Council, to jail in the case of the shooting death of cow trader Shahjalal in Sultanpur area of Feni city. On Monday morning, he appeared in the court of Feni Senior Judicial Magistrate Kamrul Hasan and ordered to send him to jail if the bail application is not granted by the court. According to related sources, on the night of July 15, 2021, on the occasion of Qurbani Eid, a few seasonal cattle traders from Kishoreganj including Shahjalal came to Sultanpur with cows in a truck. That night, Abul Kalam, the expelled general secretary of the municipal council and ward Awami League, and his associates went to loot the cows along with the truck. After blocking it, Shahjalal was shot dead and his body was thrown in the pond. In this incident, the victim’s cousin Al Amin filed a murder case at Feni Model Police Station mentioning the names of Councilor Abul Kalam, his nephew Ashraf Hossain Raju and his accomplice Naeemul Hasan. Kalam’s associates Ashraf Hossain and Naemul Hasan were arrested for their involvement in the incident and Kalam’s blood-stained shirt was recovered. After the arrest, Naemul made a confession under section 164 in the court. Meanwhile, after investigating the sensational case, Feni Model Police Inspector Abdur Rahim Sarkar submitted the charge sheet accusing 3 people in the court on 25 June  2022. On 25 September  the court took it into account and started the proceedings.
