Complaints of attack and vandalism have been received at the election camp of independent chairman candidate (Pineapple) Abdus Salam in East Nalua North ward of Shilmuri U. Union in Barura, Comilla. Alhaj Abdus Salam, the independent chairman candidate of the Complainant Anaras Pratik, said yesterday at around seven o’clock on Wednesday night, a group armed with domestic weapons led by Chairman Khalilur Rahman of Bhavanipur Union Parishad and the current chairman Alhaj Abu Eshaq along with 40/50 motorcycles committed this vandalism. He also said that Alhaj Abu Eshaq and Khalil Chairman came and vandalized without provocation at around seven in the evening. Also, on the night of February 26, the current chairman vandalized his market in Dimdul and vandalized the pineapple campaign van several times in the chairman’s home village Dighalgaon. Yesterday, the activists of Anaras are fearing prosecution by throwing cocktail blasts in his present home village Dighalgaon and setting fire to their election camp themselves. In this regard, independent chairman candidate Alhaj Abdus Salam said that I strongly condemn this mechanized incident and demand justice from the election officer, returning officer, upazila executive officer and police administration. After hearing the news of vandalism, Barura Police Station SI Julhas and Sangeet Force visited the spot. In this regard, returning officer and upazila election officer Rajibul Karim said that we have received the complaint and have informed the upazila executive officer and the senior officer of the district that action will be taken soon. Barura police station officer-in-charge Md Feroz Hossain said that we have received a written complaint in this regard. Necessary legal action will be taken subject to investigation.
