The foundation anniversary of Yugantar was celebrated in Bauphal of Patuakhali by describing the working life of freedom fighter Nurul Islam, the founder chairman of Jamuna Group and praying for the forgiveness of his soul. On the occasion of entering the two eras of Yugantar, the festival was celebrated with a cake cutting discussion at Bauphal Municipal Conference Room on Thursday night.
It was presided over by Raisul Emon, president of Bauphal Upazila Swajan Assembly, and Mehdi Hasan Roni, secretary, moderated.
The event was celebrated with recitation from the Holy Quran, floral greetings by guests and children, and children’s painting competition, poetry and rhyme covering.
Bauphal Upazila Representative (South) GM Moshiur Rahman Milon was present as the chief guest in the event, Mayor of Alokita Bauphal and Joint General Secretary of District Awami League Md. Jiaulhoq Jewel.
The special guest was Bauphal Upazila Swajan Assembly Adviser Mo Zahidul Islam (Chairman Bauphal Sadar Union), President of Bauphal Reporters Unity. Siddiqur Rahman, prominent businessman Mizanur Rahman, senior principal officer of Agrani Bank, Istiaq Md. Arif Rashid and Pubali Bank officer Abu Saleh.
Besides, reserved women councilors of Bauphal Municipality, teachers of various educational institutions, representatives of Sudhi Samaj, human rights activists and journalists of various print and electronic media were also present.
In the speech of the chief guest, the mayor of Bauphal municipality and the joint general secretary of the district Awami League. Ziaul Haque Jewell said, Yugantar has stepped into a strong youth by providing objective news. At this time, he wished for the future success of Yugantar and remembered the late Chairman of Jamuna Group, Nurul Islam, with respect.
Finally, the program was concluded by distributing prizes to the contestants and planting fruit trees.
