Burimari land port closed for two days – passenger crossing will continue

Burimari land port and land customs station of Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat will remain closed for two days.  The land port will remain closed for two days on the occasion of Dol Purnima and Holi festival on March 7 and Shabbat Barat on March 8, traders of both countries said.

However, passengers with passport visas will pass normally through the police immigration post at Burimari land port.  President of Burimari Customs Clearing and Forwarding Agent (C&F) Association Chhayeduzzaman Syed said that Indian businessmen will stop import and export during the Holi festival.  Because of this, the businessmen of Burimari land port will stop business activities on Tuesday and the following Wednesday on the occasion of Shabbat.  All business activities including import and export will be started again on Thursday, March 9.

Burimari Land Port Immigration Police Officer Sub-Inspector (SI) Mur Hasan Kabir said, though the import-export activities including traders are stopped through Burimari Land Port and Land Customs Station, the transit of passengers with passport visa will continue through Burimari Police Immigration Chowki (Immigration).  Ghiyas Uddin, Assistant Director (Traffic) of Burimari Land Port Authority said, Indian businessmen informed about the closure on Tuesday by letter.  Businessmen of Burimari land port said that import and export operations will be stopped as the next day is a public holiday on Wednesday.
