The five-day seven-hundredth annual Maha Yajna festival has started from Sunday at the nearly three hundred year old Sri Sri Kalbhairava temple in Brahmanbaria. The four-day Maha Yajna festival begins in the morning with the hoisting of the Vedic flag. A fair is held on the occasion of the festival. Temple Committee President Palash Bhattacharya inaugurated the festival. At that time, local devotees including priests and scholars from different places of Bangladesh and India were present. Saptasati Chandi Maha Yajna begins at noon for the welfare of living beings. At this time, the devotees offer fruits, flowers, durba, bel leaves and other worship materials in the yajna.Madhusudan Chakraborty, the chief priest of the Yajna, said, “The 45th anniversary of the Kalbhairab temple is being celebrated this year. This time the Puja of Baglamukhi Maa, another form of Chandi Maa is also held. Praying to Sri Saptashati Chandi Maa for the peace of the living beings and the world. Anupam Bhattacharya, the guest priest of the Yajna from Tripura, India, said, “The year 2023 is a terrible juncture for the nation and the living beings. Shani Maharaj is now in the house of Aquarius. We perform yajna because the sound of this yajna goes into space and creates echoes. This yajna is performed to appease Mahakala. Meanwhile, the head priest of Kalbhairav temple, Narayan Chakraborty, said that the word Chandi comes from the word Chanda. Chand means fierce. This Chand has been feminized as Chandi. Ugrachand is always angry. Prayers are organized mainly to appease him. Meanwhile, a folk fair is held on the banks of the Titus river around the Kalbhairava temple, centered on the five-day yajna festival. At the fair, the shopkeepers have arranged stalls of toys and toys. A large presence of buyers has also been noticed. The priests along with the organizers of the yajna said that about three hundred years ago, Durgacharan Acharya, a resident of Fulbaria area of Brahmanbaria, had a dream and established the Sri Sri Kalbhairava temple on the banks of the Titas river in Medda in the municipal area. Since then, this yajna is performed every year for the welfare of the living world. Later in 1971, during the Great War of Liberation, the Pak Army damaged the 24 feet tall Kalbhairab Murti with dynamite. After independence, puja-festivals were closed for several years. Later Dr. Mahanambrata Brahmachari Maharaj rebuilt the Kalabhairava temple with the help of local devotees. Khokon Pal, a devotee who came to the temple, said, “Every year I come to the festival with my family.” Karbi Chakraborty said, “This time I prayed to my mother that we all can live in peace.” I wished the country and the nation well.
