Mayor of Patuakhali Bauphal Municipality and Joint General Secretary of Patuakhali District Awami League. Ziaul Haque Jewel has been elected unopposed as the Vice President of Bangladesh Badminton Federation. He is the current and former joint general secretary of this federation. This information has been informed in a notification of the National Sports Council (NSC).
According to NSC sources, Bangladesh Badminton Federation elections were scheduled to be held on Monday (May 22). However, on the day of withdrawal of nominations, the nominations of all except 24 persons were withdrawn by agreement from the two panels. As a result, there was no need to vote in the election today. The National Sports Council (NSC) announced the Badminton Federation’s Executive Committee with the uncontested candidates as there were no contesting candidates for the 24 posts. Mayor Md. in this executive committee. Ziaul Haque Jewell was elected Vice President. Before this, he served as the executive member and joint general secretary of Bangladesh Badminton Federation.
In this regard, Joint Secretary of National Sports Council Sheikh Hamim Hasan said, “According to the election schedule, all but 24 candidates have withdrawn their nominations against 24 posts on the day of withdrawal of nominations and a coordinated panel has been submitted through compromise. Therefore, as per the provisions of NSC, all the posts have been declared unopposed.

Ziaul Haque Jewell said, ‘Coordinating with districts, divisions and clubs, we will beautifully take badminton to the brink of development and momentum. That is my hope.’ When asked about improving the quality of life of badminton players, he said, “As I have been by the side of badminton players in the past, I will continue to work for the improvement of their quality of life.”
It is to be noted that due to the expiry of the term of the previous committee, the National Sports Council formed an ad hoc committee of the Badminton Federation in September 2020. Due to the corona epidemic, the election of the executive committee of this federation has been held after a long year and a half.
