An autorickshaw was overturned by a train while crossing a railway crossing at Akkelpur in Jaipurhat. Autorickshaw driver Ataur Rahman (52) was killed. The accident happened on last Friday (February 17) at 11:30 am at the Kech junction of the upazila. The deceased Ataur is a resident of Roar Khanpara village of Akkelpur upazila.

Akkelpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Bakkar Siddique said that the autorickshaw driver Ataur Rahman was going to Khadail village of Badalgachi upazila of Naogaon with four passengers from Roar village of Akkelpur. On the way, the engine of the autorickshaw stopped while crossing the railway crossing at Ketch Junction. At that time the passengers could get down from the autorickshaw but the driver could not get down. The auto-rickshaw was overturned by an inter-city train from Kurigram to Dhaka. Ataur was killed on the spot. As there was no family complaint in the incident, the family burial was decided, said the OC.
