 Four policemen were attacked by villagers while investigating land related complaints in Rangpur. Among the four victims of the attack, a sub-inspector named Reza Rabbi has been admitted to the Upazila Health Complex as his condition is critical. On Friday (June 2) evening, the incident happened in Chowdhuryhat Dolapara area of South Panapukur Barabil Union of Gangachra Upazila. Dulal Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Gongachara Model Police Station, said that three people including a woman have been arrested in this incident. The arrested persons are Zakir Hossain (37), Maina Begum (40) and Mirkulal (45). The operation to arrest others involved in the incident is continuing. According to witnesses and police sources, Mahbubur Rahman (70) of CO Bazar area of Rangpur city made a land deed of 75 cents from Ashraful (40) of Chowdhuryhat Dolapara area of Dakshin Panapukur Chowdhury in Barabil Union of Upazila. According to Bayanasutra, Mahbubur Rahman will pay the full amount of the land within six months and get the deed from the owner of the land. But even after six months, he failed to deed the land. Meanwhile, the owner of the land, Ashraful Islam, lodged a complaint with the Mahbubur Police Station when he went to plant trees on his land on Friday. On receiving the complaint, five policemen arrived at the spot to investigate the complaint. When the police wanted to bring Ashraful in the car, the people of the village stopped them and took away the weapons from the police and attacked them. Four policemen were injured. When the members of the Gangachara Model Police Station went to rescue them after receiving the news, at one point there was a chase with the local people. Later, the police arrested three persons including a woman from the spot. On the other hand, an injured sub-inspector named Reza Rabi was admitted to the hospital as he was seriously injured. The remaining three policemen received first aid. Dulal Hossain, Officer-in-charge of Gangachara Model Police Station, said that three people have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident. Those involved in the incident will be brought under the law subject to investigation. There is no opportunity to discount anyone in this regard.
