 270 sea turtle hatchlings have been released on Cox’s Bazar beach.  Thursday (March 23) at 6:00 p.m. in Cox’s Bazar beach, the 1-3-day-old babies were released. The first sea turtle hatched in the hatchery this year was released. Under the supervision of Cox’s Bazar South Forest Department, USAID funded Nature Conservation Management. (NECOM) The hatchlings are hatched at the Turtle Hatchery of the Eco Life Project. The eggs hatch after 60 to 65 days in the hatchery. At least 30 turtles died while releasing the turtles into the sea. The turtles were released into the sea by Bangladesh Marine Research Institute Director General (Additional Secretary) and Marine Scientist Syed Mahmud Belal Haider, Divisional Forest Officer of Cox’s Bazar South Forest Division Sarwar Alam, Deputy Project Director of Necom-Eco Life Project. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman etc. Necom’s Cox’s Bazar Manager Abdul Qayyum said that 7 thousand 528 eggs have been collected this year in 3 turtle hatcheries at Patcher Island, Shilkali Island and Shahpari Island of Cox’s Bazar beach. Turtles laid their eggs in 58 spots on the beach. The turtle will come to lay eggs in a few more days. Among them, 18 turtles laid two thousand 30 eggs in Pachhar Island, 9 turtles laid 1 thousand 239 eggs in Shilkali and 31 turtles laid 4 thousand 259 eggs in Shahpari Island. Necom-Eco Life Project Deputy Project Director Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. He said that turtles have laid more eggs this year compared to the last three years. In 2022, turtles laid 5 thousand 763 eggs in 54 spots. The previous year in 2021, 4 thousand 713 eggs were laid. The hatching rate is 86 percent.
