The election-centric Panel Forum has won the majority in the 2025-27 term elections of BGMEA, the organization of ready-made garment exporters and garment owners. Out of a total of 35 director posts, Mahmudul Hasan Khan Babu’s Panel Forum won 31, including 25 in Dhaka and 6 in Chittagong. The Panel Sammilit Parishad led by Abul Kalam won the remaining four.
The BGMEA 2025-27 Board of Directors elections were held on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at the Radisson Blu Hotel. The elections were held with the spontaneous participation of voters amidst tight security. This time, the total number of voters in Dhaka and Chittagong was 1,864. Out of these, 1,631 people voted, which is 87.5 percent of the total votes.
After winning the election, Forum Panel Leader Mahmudul Hasan Khan Babu said its dedicated the victory to the voters. He also said that their main goal now is to implement the election promises, increase voter participation in BGMEA, and make the board regularly accountable to the members. The voting began at 8 am on Saturday and ended at 5:15 pm. Then the votes were counted in the presence of the candidates and the results were announced at 11:30 pm.
