Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Rangpur Region Commander Brigadier General Khondkar Shafikuzzaman said that the work is on to identify the conspirators of gathering people of Hindu community at the border by spreading rumours. At the end of the marked arrest operation is underway.
On Tuesday (August 20), he said these things in response to the questions of the journalists when he visited Hatibandha Barakhata Highway Police Station in Lalmonirhat. Brigadier General Khondkar Shafiquzzaman said, after the fall of Sheikh Hasina government, people from the Hindu community were gathered on the border at Lalmonirhat and Thakurgaon border due to rumours. Not one of these people entered the neighboring country. Those who spread rumors to tarnish the image of the country have been identified. Three people have been arrested so far. Also, operations are underway to arrest the rest of the culprits.
He also said that under the Rangpur region of BGB, BGB is helping the police to maintain law and order situation in 13 police stations of Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions. These include Hatibandha and Patgram and Hatibandha Highway Police Stations in Lalmonirhat. Stating that security and surveillance have been increased at the border, he said, BGB is working for the security of all, including those of all religions. At that time he was accompanied by BGB Rangpur Sector Commander Col. Mamunur Rashid and 61 BGB Teesta Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Sheikh Mohammad Musahid Masum.
