The Boys and Girls (Under-15) Beach Football Tournament organized by the Sports Department has started in Cox’s Bazar. The tournament was inaugurated on Wednesday afternoon at the Divine Eco Resort Point on the sea beach with the participation of eight divisional teams in both groups. Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Md. Iqbal Hossain was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the three-day tournament. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin presided over the event. Director (Joint Secretary) of the Sports Department Md. Mostafa Zaman, Additional Deputy Commissioner Imran Hossain Sajeeb spoke at the event. At that time, divisional sports officers, team managers and players along with the Sports Department were present.
The boys and girls (Under-15) teams from Dhaka and Barisal divisions participated in the opening match of the tournament, which was held in a knockout format.
In the boys’ group, Barisal defeated Dhaka Division by 3-2 goals and in the girls’ group, Barisal defeated Dhaka Division by 3-2 goals in a tiebreaker. The match ended in a 1-1 draw. The final and prize distribution ceremony of the tournament will be held on May 23.
