Irregularities in the distribution of rice to the fishermen were found in Dhulia of Bauphal of Patuakhali. At times, the government has imposed restrictions on the fishermen’s acceptance of fish. Therefore, the government is giving 40 kg of rice to help the fishermen. In continuation of this, on 20-2-2023 every Monday, rice is distributed among the fishermen in Dhulia Union. Local people complain that genuine fishermen are excluded from this assistance. If the list of distributed rice (master roll) is checked on the ground, the truth of the irregularity in the distribution of rice will be found. Local people Hasan father Nizam Uddin, Tarek father Nasir Uddin, Danis father Alauddin, Afzal father Hafez Hung, Shamim father Aziz Kha, Nannu father Sultan Rari gathered at the rice distribution center union council after hearing about the irregularities in rice distribution.
The crowd saw that Labor Rashid’s father Shahabuddin had hidden a few sacks of rice in another room and while sending some more sacks of rice to his home in an auto, the local crowd seized the rice and informed the Upazila Executive Officer Al- Amin. The Upazila Nirbahi Officer came to Sarzamin and found that 53 fishermen were missing and their rice was stored. Unable to find the accused Rashid, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer Al- Amin ordered the authorities to redistribute the rice. The local people expressed dissatisfaction with the re- distribution of rice without taking any action despite the fact of the complaint. Humayan Kabir chairman of the Union Parishad, was contacted in this regard and told the reporter that the allegations against his council were completely false and fabricated. He and his council did not make any irregularities in the distribution of rice to fishermen.
