Mosahid Ahmed, Moulvibazar: The court has granted remand to 4 accused on charges of forgery of Khatian at the Baralekha Upazila Land Office in Moulvibazar. On the application of the investigation officer of the case, SI Md. Afsar Bhuiyan, the learned court granted 2-day remand to the 3rd and 4th accused in the case, Rasendra Kumar Das, accountant of the Upazila Land Office, and Kabya Chanda, cleaner, respectively, and 7-hour remand for interrogation at the jail gate to the other 2 accused. Rasendra Kumar Das, former chief assistant and accountant of the Upazila Land Office, Baralekha, is currently working at the Upazila Land Office, Srimangal. On the afternoon of May 8, they were arrested from the Upazila Land Office, Baralekha and handed over to the police station by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Aslam Sarwar. Later in the evening, Surveyor Shamsul Huda filed a case with the police station accusing the five people. It is known that the surveyor, who is the custodian of the records of the Upazila Land Office, is responsible for preserving the records of the Union Land Office and the Tahsildar. With the help of the surveyor and the Tahsildar, a group has forged the records of the Upazila Land Office and the Union Land Office. But those who were supposed to preserve the records properly did not perform their duties properly and mysteriously their names have remained undetected. It is also known that the common people were imprisoned by a syndicate in the Barolekha Land Office under the leadership of Surveyor Shamsul Huda. When they applied for public registration, Surveyor Shamsul Huda used to harass them in various ways in the name of the report. Although Barolekha Sadar Tahsildar Majid Mia could not preserve his record books properly and collected rent using fake accounts, no case was filed against him. In the wake of the allegations, Surveyor Shamsul Huda was transferred to the LA branch of the Moulvibazar DC office, but Tehsildar Majid Mia remained in good health. According to multiple sources, Tehsildar Majid Mia is one of the associates of Surveyor Shamsul Huda, a broker and a syndicate outside the office. In the registration account number 1805 of Aditya Mahal Mouza of Barolekha Upazila, Abdus Chattar, Abdul Jabbar and Abdul Quddus registered a total of 19 percent 67 points in 2019 in the 3300 and 3301 spots. On May 8 of this month, a review of the records shows that the accused group fraudulently added 12 percent of government land to the books of the district administrator in exchange for a huge sum of money by forging the signatures of the then Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sharif Uddin and Surveyor Shamsul Huda along with the two desired marks of the said name transfer case. Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Aslam Sarwar was contacted on his mobile phone several times in this regard, but he did not pick up the call.
