An awareness meeting was held in Barura, Comilla to reduce child marriage.
On Wednesday, May 7, at 3 pm, an information meeting was held in the Barura Upazila Parishad meeting room, organized by the Upazila Women’s Affairs Department and the Upazila Administration, to eliminate/reduce child marriage in Barura as per the Child Marriage Prohibition Act 2017, under the chairmanship of Barura Upazila Executive Officer Nu-Mong Marma Mong.
Present at the meeting as members of the Barura Upazila Child Marriage Prevention Implementation Committee were Barura Upazila Assistant Commissioner Bhumi Umme Muslima, Barura Upazila Secondary Education Officer Ratan Kumar Saha, Adda Union Parishad Chairman Md. Zakir Hossain Badal, Payalgachha Union Parishad Chairman Syed Mahin Hossain, and Bhauksar Union Parishad Chairman Ahmed Jamal Masud.
Barura Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Afroza Begum delivered a speech at the meeting titled “What to do to prevent child marriage in Barura Upazila”. At the meeting, union-based tag officers were appointed to prevent child marriage in Barura Upazila.
