Anti-corruption debate, essay competition and exchange meeting in Barura

An anti-corruption debate, essay competition and exchange of views was held in Barura, Comilla. The event started on Monday, May 26 at 11 am at the Barura Upazila Parishad auditorium under the theme “Not scarcity, but boundless greed is the main cause of corruption” and “Unity of youth, ability to prevent corruption”. The event was organized by the Upazila Administration and Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee and in collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Commission Dhaka and the Integrated District Office Comilla.
Barura Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee President Md. Shah Alam presided over the event, while Barura Upazila Executive Officer Nu-Mong Marma Mong was present as the chief guest. Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Zahidul Islam, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Ratan Kumar Saha were present as special guests. Barura Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee Vice President and Assistant Professor of Payalgachha Degree College Torun Kumar Acharya, Assistant Teacher of Kadba Talagram T.C. Laha High School Rozina Khandaker, Assistant Teacher of Khoshbas High School and College Md. Nazrul Islam, Executive Member Master Abdus Sattar, AB Bank PLC Barura Branch Business Officer Md. Sharif Uddin, Parveen Akhter were also present. The teachers who were present as representatives were Md. Monir Hossain, Headmaster of Barura Model High School, Laxman Chandra Pal, Assistant Teacher of Barura Haji Noab Ali Pilot High School, Md. Moslem Mia, Assistant Teacher of Barura Sunnia Kamil Madrasa, Md. Ikramul Haque, General Secretary of Barura Upazila Press Club, Kazi Momin Ullah Bhuiyan, Correspondent of Daily Ameer Comilla Newspaper, Journalist Billal Hossain, Staff Reporter of Daily Barura Kanth Newspaper, Abu Yusuf Rabet. The program was moderated by Shakila Zaman, General Secretary of Barura Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee. On this day, a debate competition for and against was held with the participation of students from 10 educational institutions in the light of the theme “Not scarcity, but boundless greed is the main cause of corruption”, and an essay competition was held in the light of the theme “Unity of Youth, Ability to Prevent Corruption”. At the end of the program, prizes were distributed among the winners and losers of the debate and essay competition and the first, second and third place winners.
