In spite of not owning the land due to the change of power of the government, the land has been forcibly seized and cultivated and sown in Char Kapalbera, Charkajal, Galachipar, Patuakhali, using power, using muscle power and disobeying the court order. The two unions are Charkajal and Charbiswam located on the coastal islands, surrounded by rivers. There was a temporary police camp at Charkajal to maintain law and order. According to the information sent by the local representative, the victims complained that this incident took place in the interest of police security due to the change of government.
According to court sources, 24 plaintiffs including Latif Howladar, a resident of Char Kapalbera in Charkajal upazila, filed false documents against the defendant Zahir Howladar and 11 others on March 12, 2023, which did not match the land documents of the defendants, JL No. 164, Mouja-Char Kapalbera, SA. Khatian No. 650, 651, 169, 174, 653, 478, 431 and Dag No. 791, 922, 923, 925, 926, 927, 1673, 1674, 1675, 1677, 1683, 1684, 1685, 1698/1-1698 etc. A case was filed in the Assistant Judge Court, Galachipa, Patuakhali claiming the land of Dag. whose case number is -95/2020. In the hearing of the case, both sides demanded the order of prohibition in different ways, the learned court. The court rejected the claim of the plaintiff and ordered the ownership of the land in favor of the defendant after reviewing the arguments and documents on both sides.
Later challenging this order, 40 plaintiffs including Zahir Howlader including 40 plaintiffs filed an appeal in Joint District Judge Court-3, Patuakhali. whose number is -25/2023. There, the order of the lower court was upheld and the verdict was given on June 4, 2024.
Several people including land owner Zahir Howladar said that we have been occupying this land for a long time. There is also a residence here. For land cultivation we make seedbeds and sow paddy and grow seeds. With the indirect support of the plaintiff Latif Hawladar, the third party using the power influence and muscle force forced 10th August 2024 cultivation and the seeds produced by us and sowed the same seeds.
The abductors were Latif Molla, son of Dilu Molla, son of Dilu Molla of Charkajal Union of Upazila, Kabir Shikder, son of deceased Idris Shikder, Dilu Molla, son of deceased Sahar Ali and Rafiq Shikder, son of Nuru Shikder, and 25 to 30 unidentified persons. We did not get the help of the police to change the government. Seeking the administration’s help to free our land from the hands of the encroachers.
Attempts were made to contact several people including Latif Mollah, involved in forced land cultivation, but none of them could be reached.
