 Police have arrested 13 people including a ward councilor of the municipality from gambling hall in Akhaura of Brahmanbaria. They were sent to court on Friday (07 July) afternoon Gambling cards and one lakh 40 thousand rupees were seized from them. The arrested are, the 6th Ward Councilor of Akhaura Municipality. Sujan Mia (30), Babul Mia (60), Sabuj Khandkar (35), Amjad Hossain (30), Abdur Rauf (44), Sohag Khan (30), Emdadul Islam Bhuia (50), Md. Rabiul (30), Mojibur (55), Md. Farid Mia (60), Ful Mia (68), Fakhrul Mia (45) and Md. Imran (48).
Akhaura Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Asadul Islam said, based on secret information, a raid was conducted at the Railway Club on the west side of Akhaura Railway Junction on Thursday midnight. Thirteen people were arrested while gambling there. One lakh 40 thousand taka in cash and 104 cards were seized. He also said that a case has been filed in this incident. They were sent to court on Friday.
