A third class student named Arifa Akhtar (9) died of dengue fever in Madaripur. The incident took place at Madaripur Sadar Hospital on Sunday (August 6) morning.
Students of New Rajarhat Government Primary School No. 66 of Shirkhara Union of Madaripur Sadar Upazila. Arifa is the daughter of Jahurul Khan of Radharbari area of the same upazila.
According to hospital sources, Arifa, daughter of Jahurul Khan of Radharbari area of Madaripur Sadar Upazila, was admitted to Madaripur Sadar Hospital in a critical condition on Saturday morning after suffering from dengue fever. One day while undergoing treatment in the hospital, he died on Sunday morning. This is the first time a dengue patient died in Madaripur Sadar Hospital. As of Sunday afternoon, 114 dengue patients are under treatment in four upazila hospitals of Madaripur district. Among them, 47 people are in Madaripur Sadar Hospital.
Madaripur Civil Surgeon Dr. Munir Ahmed Khan said that the child was admitted to Sadar Hospital on Saturday with high fever. We start the treatment program as soon as we are admitted to the hospital. The child died this morning while undergoing treatment.
It should be noted that 873 dengue patients have been detected in Madaripur district since January.
