State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, MP, has said that a comprehensive list of entrepreneurs in the country will be prepared for the sustainable development of the livestock and fisheries sector. He said that if educated youth come forward in commercial and science-based farm management, productivity will increase, massive employment opportunities will be created and the country’s food security will be further strengthened.

The State Minister said these things while participating in a virtual (Zoom) meeting with the divisional fisheries and livestock directors organized at the conference room of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock today.

The State Minister said that the divisional directors, district and upazila level officials will work to solve the problem by collecting information by creating a national database of farmers and entrepreneurs related to the fisheries and livestock sector across the country.

He said, educated entrepreneurs manage farms in a planned manner and use fertilizers, food and other inputs as per the requirement. As a result, production costs are reduced and profitability increases. On the other hand, unplanned use of inputs increases production costs and farmers suffer financially.

He said, after the list is prepared, a series of department-wise exchange meetings will be held with farmers. In these meetings, their views on problems, possibilities, obstacles and things to be done will be taken directly. Through this, it will be easy to adopt realistic policies and action plans.

The State Minister said, the government is very sincere in the development of this sector. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has emphasized on increasing the number of entrepreneurs in the country, creating employment and increasing production. To implement that goal, the government is working to further strengthen the fisheries and livestock sectors.

He instructed the officials to collect accurate information from farmers and prepare the list quickly and urged them to work sincerely in this regard.

Present at the meeting were Additional Secretary of the Ministry Md. Imam Uddin Kabir, Additional Secretary Syeda Nawara Jahan, Director General of the Department of Fisheries Dr. Md. Khaled Kanak, Director of the Department of Livestock Dr. Md. Boyzar Rahman, and Private Secretary to the State Minister Md. Abubakar Sarkar.
