Inauguration of free seed, sapling and fertilizer distribution among farmers in Rajapur

The inaugural ceremony of free seed, sapling and fertilizer distribution among farmers under the Agricultural Incentive Program in the Agricultural Rehabilitation Support Sector was held at 9:30 am on June 24 at Rajapur Upazila of Jhalakathi.

Present as the chief guest at the event, Upazila Executive Officer Rifat Ara Mauri inaugurated the distribution of tree saplings, seeds and fertilizer under the incentive program.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Mosa. Shahida Sharmin Afroz presided over the inaugural ceremony as special guests. The nominated representative of the Honorable Member of Parliament for 125, Jhalakathi-1 constituency, Mr. Rafiqul Islam Jamal, Senior Vice President of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party of Rajapur Upazila, Mr. Abdul Haque Nantu, Honorable Headmaster of Rajapur Model Pilot High School, Md. Jahidul Islam, Convener of Upazila Jubo Dal, Md. Masum Billah Parvez and Member Secretary Syed Nazmul Hasan, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Abdullah, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mr. Md. Shamim Reza Sajeeb, Additional Agriculture Officer Meherunnesa Papri, Upazila Rural Development Officer Md. Firoz, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md. Shafiul Bashar, Upazila Election Officer Mr. Md. Nazmul Hossain, Assistant Election Officer Mr. Md. Shahadat Hossain, Assistant Agricultural Extension Officer Md. Abul Bashar Jomaddar, Deputy Assistant Plant Protection Officer Mohammad Mehedi Hasan, concerned Deputy Assistant Agricultural Officers, journalists, local dignitaries, representatives of farmers’ organizations and farmers.

The program was moderated by Agricultural Extension Officer Hossain Shahariar Sifat.

In order to implement the government’s election pledge in the incentive program, in the 2025-26 fiscal year, free (05 per person) trees were distributed among 1385 farmers/institutions under the tree/tree sapling incentive program in the Kharip-2 season, free Ufshi variety paddy seeds (05 kg) and fertilizer support were distributed among 1000 small and marginal farmers under the Ufshi Aman incentive program, free vegetable seeds and fertilizer support were distributed among 650 farmers under the summer vegetable seeds (300 grams) and fertilizer support program, and seedlings (15 per person) and fertilizer support were distributed among 80 farmers under the incentive program to increase lemon production.
