After being closed for almost 14 months due to the vaccine crisis, the nationwide Vitamin ‘A’ Plus Capsule campaign is about to begin. As part of this, the Health Department has made preparations to feed 82,501 children in Jhalakathi district with Vitamin A Plus capsules on June 28.
This was announced by Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Humayun Kabir at a meeting organized with local media workers in the meeting room of the Jhalakathi District Commissioner’s office.
Information provided by the District Health Department says, ‘The campaign will run from 8 am to 4 pm on June 28. On this day, 82,501 children will be fed Vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules simultaneously in all unions of four upazilas and all wards of two municipalities of Jhalakathi. Among them, 10,011 children aged 6 to 11 months will be fed purple capsules and 72,490 children aged 12 to 59 months will be fed red capsules.
Public Health and Nutrition Organization officials said that according to the rules, a campaign for Vitamin A capsules is supposed to be held twice a year. However, due to the capsule shortage, it has not been held since March last year. This campaign is being held on June 28 after a long 14 months.
