Md. Monir Hossain: The repair and carpeting construction work of an important road in the Puran Bazar Lower Pole Shop area of Chandpur Municipality has been inaugurated. The development work of this road, which has been dilapidated and unfit for traffic for a long time, has created an atmosphere of relief and joy among the local residents. The locals expect that if the work is completed within the stipulated time while maintaining quality standards, many years of suffering will end.
Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik, MP for Chandpur-3 constituency, inaugurated the development work. At the inauguration ceremony, he said that the current government is working relentlessly to ensure planned and sustainable development in every region of the country. The government is giving utmost importance to improving the living standards of the people and modernizing the communication system. He said, “Quality road construction is one of the foundations of economic and social development of an area. Therefore, the work on this road will also be completed maintaining the highest standards. The development activities that the government has undertaken in the interest of the people are being implemented consistently. I hope that once the work on this road is completed, the long-standing suffering of the people of the area will be alleviated and the communication system will be easier and safer.”
It is learned that the development work of the road is being implemented by the Roads and Highways Department. The work is being managed by the Executive Engineer of the Roads Department, Mohammad Yunus Ali. The road has been filled with potholes for a long time, causing extreme hardship for vehicles and pedestrians. Especially during the monsoon season, the road would become almost impassable due to water accumulation.
A local resident said, “This road has been in a dilapidated condition for years. During the monsoon, mud and water accumulation would make it very difficult for children, the elderly and women to move. We are very happy that the work on the road has finally started. Now our only hope is that the work should be completed quickly and with quality.”
Another passerby said, “Hundreds of people travel on this road every day. We used to face a lot of problems while taking sick patients to the hospital. Now that the road development work has started, we hope that our suffering will be reduced to a great extent.”
The locals said that this road is an important transportation route for the local people as well as people from various surrounding areas. As a result, they believe that the development of the road will have a positive impact on local business, commerce, education and the overall communication system.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chandpur District BNP Vice President Khalilur Rahman Gazi, Chandpur District Jubo Dal President Manikur Rahman Manik, District Jubo Dal General Secretary Advocate Nurul Amin Akash, and local political, social and prominent figures.
It is worth noting that the construction of the road is being implemented by the contractor Isfar Ashraf Associates, whose owner is Md. Rashidul Islam. The locals hope that if the work is completed within the stipulated time, ensuring transparency and quality, a new horizon will open in the communication system of this area.
