Central program held to demand establishment of healthy politics and democratic environment.

A protest march and rally was held at the initiative of Kaptai Upazila Jubo Dal against political corruption, propaganda and unethical politics and to demand establishment of healthy democratic politics.

Leaders and activists of Upazila Jubo Dal, Union Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal and BNP’s affiliate and associate organizations participated in this program organized at 11 am on Tuesday (June 23) as part of the program announced by the center.

The procession started from Kaptai Upazila Shaheed Minar premises, circled the Upazila square, main road and various roads of Baraichhari Bazar and ended at the Upazila square. Later, a short protest rally was held there.

The rally was presided over by Kaptai Upazila Jubo Dal convener Jahedul Islam Member and moderated by Member Secretary Ibrahim Habib Milu. Upazila Chhatra Dal convener Sekandar Ali Russell, Upazila Swechchhasebak Dal member secretary Md. Rafiq, Juba Dal joint convener Rupak Mallick and other leaders also spoke.

The speakers said that for a long time, freedom of political expression and democratic practices have been hindered in the country in various ways. Respecting political dissent, increasing tolerance and ensuring a democratic environment are among the demands of the present time. They emphasized on establishing decency, responsibility and mutual respect in the political arena.

In the president’s speech, Jahedul Islam Member said, “We believe in healthy, positive and people-oriented politics. Creating confusion in society through lies, propaganda and indecent statements about political opponents cannot be part of any democratic culture. The people of the country expect politics that is not conflict, but development, stability and public welfare oriented. Therefore, we call on all political parties to conduct political activities while maintaining decency, tolerance and mutual respect.”

Member Secretary Ibrahim Habib Milu said, “There may be political differences, but they should never take the form of hatred, propaganda or unethical behavior. The leaders and activists of all political parties in the country must uphold the democratic environment through responsible behavior. Political competition should be based on principles, ideals and work for the welfare of the people.”

At the end of the rally, the leaders and activists called for working together to establish a healthy, tolerant and people-oriented political culture by avoiding political malculture and expressing solidarity with the central program.
