Home Minister hopes Ramisa murder case trial will be completed quickly

Desk news: Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has expressed hope that the Ramisa murder case trial will be completed quickly. He said the government is taking necessary steps to ensure the speedy disposal of the case.

He told reporters at a briefing held at the Home Ministry’s conference room on Tuesday.

The Home Minister said that there has been significant progress in the case proceedings. Out of the 12 witnesses scheduled, 11 have already testified. The witnesses include medical and forensic experts.

The Home Minister said, “Everyone expects the trial of the case to be completed in a short time. We are also taking necessary measures towards that end.”

He said that although the government cannot comment on specific issues of the pending case, it is providing full cooperation by ensuring the presence of investigation officers and witnesses in every hearing.

He also said that the statement of the accused, who is currently in custody, has already been recorded under Section 164.

The Home Minister said that it is learnt that the court has issued a directive to refrain from discussing the matter of this case with anyone outside without the permission of the court.

The Home Minister expressed hope for a speedy verdict and said that the final verdict in the case and the timing of the verdict are entirely within the jurisdiction of the court.
