Md. Milan Raihan, Joypurhat Correspondent: On 30 May 26 the occasion of the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), advocate of multi-party democracy and former President Shaheed Ziaur Rahman, the day was celebrated in Joypurhat with deep respect and various programs.
On the occasion of the day, leaders and activists of district BNP and affiliated organizations wore black badges and placed wreaths at the portrait of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, hoisting the national and party flags at half-mast and a black flag in front of the party office.
District BNP convener Golzar Hossain, District BNP senior joint convener and District Council administrator Masud Rana Pradhan, joint convener Abdul Wahab, District Jubo Dal convener ATM Shahnewaz Kabir Shuvro, District Swechchhasebak Dal convener Alamgir Hossain, joint convener Zahurul Islam, District Tanti Dal senior joint convener Delwar Hossain, District Chhatra Dal president Golam Mahfuz Shuvo, along with top leaders of district BNP, Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal and other affiliated organizations were present in the program.
​ Later, a special prayer meeting was held with the participation of all those present. In the prayer meeting, special prayers were offered, praying for the forgiveness of the soul of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman and for the peace, prosperity of the country and the recovery and long life of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
The leaders said that everyone must work unitedly in the fight to restore democracy in the country by keeping the ideals and spirit of Shaheed Zia in mind. On the occasion of the day, an atmosphere of deep mourning and political revival was seen among the party leaders and workers.
