Uzzal Hossain, Pansha: Rajbari Pangsha in the bank’s customers formed a human chain demanding the return of S Alam, accused of money laundering of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, the resignation of the bank’s current chairman Dr. M. Zubaidur Rahman, the expulsion of AMD Kamal Uddin Jasim, an end to illegal interference in the bank’s activities, and the reinstatement of MD Md. Omar Faruk Khan.
The hour-long human chain was held in front of Mahmud Plaza below Islami Bank in Pansha Bazar, Rajbari at 11:30 am on Sunday May 24.
Sultan Mahmud, president of the Pangsha Upazila branch of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, presided over the human chain. Local leaders including Rajbari District Jamaat Organizing Secretary Harun Or Rashid, Pangsha Municipality Jamaat Secretary Khondaker Abdul Halim, and Pangsha Industry and Commerce Association Vice President Abdul Khalek spoke at the event. The speakers said that it is necessary to take effective steps quickly to restore the transparency of Islami banks and the trust of customers.
