A horrific attack by a gang of robbers took place in Pansha upazila of Rajbari late at night. It has been alleged that a family member was held hostage at gunpoint and looted goods worth around 8 lakh taka including cash, gold ornaments.
The incident took place in the Battala area of ​​Naopara Pagal in Machpara union of the upazila.
According to the family sources of the victim Samad Ali Sheikh, a group of miscreants suddenly attacked their house at around 1:30 am on Saturday. At that time, Samad Ali Sheikh’s son Md. Jewel was working in the yard of the house. The robbers came and held him hostage by holding a pistol to his chest.
Later, Jewel was used to intimidate the other members of the house and brought them under control. At one stage, the robbers tied up some family members and looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables from the house.
The victim’s family said that the robbers planned to destroy various rooms of the house and quickly fled with valuables. There is panic in the area after the incident.
Locals claim that the recent increase in theft and robbery in the area has created concern among the general public. They have demanded the immediate identification and arrest of the culprits.
